Pastures of Heaven

Friends –

Yesterday I completed this painting 'Pastures of Heaven' in my Placerville studio, using a photograph that I took while participating in the Carmel Plein Air invitational. While I was there, I did paint on the shoreline. But I also spent some time painting here in solitude with only the fog, chanting quail and a soaring falcon to keep me company.

While the coastline of that part of California is grippingly beautiful, I am beginning to feel a deeper – and somewhat spiritual - connection to the hilly area between Monterey and Salinas that Steinbeck often wrote about. So much so, that I think I will go visit Corral de Tierra again tomorrow.

Sometimes these spiritual trips are warranted. Take one.
