Mother and Child

Friends -

For quite some time I have wanted to see if I could accomplish a portrait in soft pastel.  Portraits are never easy, especially if you really do want the painting to show the character and quality of the individuals in the study. For me, both of these individuals are soft and loving and imaginative and mischievous and bright.  Some of you may know who they are (??).

I have to say that I did not do the greatest job at making that happen in this case.  There is something lacking.  But I tend to want to forgive myself because it is the very first time I attempt a pastel portrait.  I still want to share it with you, and I will try again.
