Friends -
There have been times in my life when I have used art to fight the blues. These low, dark moods were generally the outcome of many things that were well beyond my control and certainly beyond my comprehension. It has been decades, probably, since I have sunk that low, but last weekend I was there.

This time, I already felt some despair because of the senseless shootings in Arizona last month. But it was followed much to close by the shooting death of a local elementary school principal last week. The school custodian, and his reported 'friend', shot Sam while he sat in his office. School was in session. I also learned that a gun was placed at a friend of mine's head for the simple crime of riding his bicycle home from work alone one evening on the American River bike trail. He survived.

So, what is wrong with gun control again???
