Dreamer's Hut

Dreamer's Hut

Friends –

This little 8x10" oil is something I decided to do on Mother's Day Morning. Much better than going out to brunch – I packed up my painting gear and went out to the grounds of quiet cultivation at Moab Youth Garden (MYG).

I often walk through the MYG and see it as a place of peace. About once a week I take my compostable waste and add it to their mulch pile and then wander around to absorb the good vibes of their quaint structures and growing good-stuff. I also try to paint there once in a while and usually find something sweet and gentle to try to share with you.

In this case, the little hut depicted in my Mother's Day quick draw is one that I had not really noticed before. I don't know the proper name for it, but decided to call it "The Dreamer's Hut" because of what is written onto the inside of the door frame. That is:

"If You are a dreamer, come in.

If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer,

If you are a pretender, come sit by my fire,

For we have some flax golden tales to spin.

Come in!

Come in!

- Shel Silverstein"
