Friends -
Today, on this beautiful spring morning, we are celebrating
my Mom's birthday by gathering at her house for a
feast. Mom has always been fond of the California
quail, which at one time were quite prolific in Saratoga.
Although the expansion of suburbia has reduced their
habitat, you can still hear their calls on a crisp
spring morning, and my Mom still delights in seeing
the little quail families when they make their way
to her front yard. So, I thought that this representation
of my Mom and her four kids would be an appropriate
Birthday Gift.
By the way, in case you are wondering, 'Bubina' is
a nickname that we have had for decades.... it's
origin remains a mystery to me.
