Sand Flats

Wasatch Heaven

Friends -

One of the characteristics of southeastern Utah red rock county that I love the most is how it changes so dramatically every season, day and hour.  Colors, shadows, afterglows and distant horizons – all appear to morph before your eyes into different shapes and hues in a successful attempt to fascinate.  If you love wilderness landscapes, you can’t get bored here – even if you are looking at the same place every time.

It is this way for Sand Flats, which is located in my own Moab back yard. This painting is from a location on Sand Flats at a trail with a distant view of the La Sal Mountains.  It will never look the same when I go there again, but whatever it looks like, it will be lovely.
