Preening Egret

Preening Egret

This is a difficult gourd to show in a static photograph. The egret is literally winding itself all around the gourd as it tries to reach it's farthest feathers and clean itself. The idea for this gourd actually came from my friend and artist, Jack Nissen, who took the photograph himself. Jack is a wood bowl turner, and clearly a good photographer as well. (plus a heck of a nice guy).

Preening Egret is small, made from a bottle gourd - about 8 inches tall. It is all pyrography, leather dye and acrylic paint. Simple.
